ok, not really work~ but for those of you who don't know.. both April and I are doing the bvc course at the moment which is this professional exam for us to qualify as barristers in the uk! (recognised in Malaysia & JB also)
One of the requirements of this course then, is to attend 12 qualifying sessions at the inns of Court situated in London. It's basically just a formal dining kind of thing, where you're required to dress in formal black & white suits nottomention sit in those Traditional British tables which go as long as the dining room itself (yes, the Harry Potter Hogwart's kind)
I guess the main idea is for us to interact with judges as well as reputable senior barristers for networking purposes. Other than that these dinings are merely salvaged for the old British- Barristers'- traditional's sake, although you occassionally have debates going on before your meals.
We're supposed to have read these long winded rules provided to us as a reminder about our attires as well as etiquettes during the dinners, but really don't think anyone bothers.. AND i just found out today that we're not allowed to have toilet breaks!! Glad I found out last minute, don't really wanna make a fool outta myself then~
Not looking forward to it at all since all of us are gonna lose our weekends and hence foreseeing next week's work piling up like Mount Everest.. Will try to update on our first dining experience as soon as possible,
till then!
xoxo
Ding
