but the fact is, despite being so near to the sea... I've never ever fished before !
So this summer I vowed to give this supposedly boring activity a go..
Pulled the gang along and off we went to teluk senangin
At first we were quite skeptical, cause who the hell fishes by the seaside?!!
oh what's this?
A closer view:
yeap, worms as baits..
This is how people in Sitiawan convert these disgusting creatures into camwhoring objects...
they're not for you justin!
Anyway, what you basically do with them is pull the worms out of the soil and then cut them into small pieces using a blade...
Since tim was the most experienced out of the group (3rd time lol), he taught all 3 of us the necessary techniques:
Pull back
Toss
and wait ..
Pull back
(some more aggressive than others)
Toss
ok you get the point
Tim got his first catch within the first 10 mins:
(p.s. Michelle was only there to provide a background contrast for the fish, so yea she claimed that she's pettier than the fish)
Regardless, our hope started to rise =D
so we happily waited
distressed cause the worms are gone but still no fish
not exactly the happiest expressions
but wait¬ Sam's rod suddenly jerked¬
and she actually got a fish !!
as you can see it's not too big either haha
by now I've completely given up and decided to snap pics instead
Ready ?? ...
Pose !
the rest of us had no luck¬ though Tim a.l.m.o.s.t caught a 1 kg
Stingray !
But because it was struggling so hard and was so heavy, it got away in the end...
nope, not even with the help of some random malay volunteer/ passerby/ pretense fisherman, did we manage to catch the potential ikan bakar =(
went to have banana leaf rice after that..
All in all it was still a wonderful experience and at least now i can tell people that i've fished before =p
