No red packets, no relatives to visit, no trips down to KL, no extra pocket money, no constant Chinese new year songs on radios or Astro, no Chinese new year cookies and no mum shouting at you to wear red...
what's different this new year is that Valentine's day happened to coincidentally fall on the same day...
Which reminds me- I've yet to watch the movie Valentine's day urghh!!
Heart- shaped cookies Yiling tried to bake for Tom
(the whole house ended up helping her out)
"April can you please read the instructions for me"
"Sarah how to dooooo? okok mix the dough for me"
"Daphne can you open this "
" Aiting can you please pre- heat the oven for me"
Went to Em's place few weeks ago and she was saying that all her housemates were very excited cause this is the first and probably the only year them singles get to celebrate on Valentine's day -.-
What's chinese new year without mandarins?
Yiling bought Tom tickets to Ne-Yo's concert (for valentine's) so the supposed reunion dinner with the Hyde Terrace family was brought forward to lunch instead..
I was so excited when I found this!!! I'm deprived =( Apparently they're called Monkey nuts here, I wonder what they're trying to imply :)
Note: Get the Sainsbury ones though, Tesco's sucks
Menu for the day:
Steamed fish
Tofu Skin with glass noodles
salty fish eggplant
We found canned longans at the Asian supermarket too!
okok back on track
Fatt Choi Hou see (Fatt choi with dried oysters)
This was marinated overnight and it was just SCRUMPTIOUS!!!
(Oysters from sitiawan okay, dun play play)
Scallops fresh from the market *salivates*
And what is CNY without yee sang?
& this (including the plum sauce) was all done from scratch! *respect* respect*
The feast:
All thanks to the cook
the almighty Aiting Ho !
Even mum doesnt cook food as good as hers =)
haha the house was filled with happy atmosphere & yiling was dancing to chinese new year songs we got off youtube all morning
Coke with Longan syrup! Anyone who hasnt tried this before, you guys are missing out BIG TIME in life
Spent the previous day cleaning the house now it's spick and span =) *grins pathetically with the satisfaction of a housewife*
Haha yes no mums to force you to wear red but must still do it for tradition's sake!
Chabo's with love
Watched a Stephen Chow movie after that (God of gamblers 3 think it was)
Everyone barely made it through half of the movie cause we were just too tired (movies like these justdont seem as entertaining anymore =( )
Reunion dinner with the group @ Oriental City at night
Plaza boys + Hyde Terrace girls
